 The establishment of the 8th Central Pay Commission, which will examine and suggest pay changes for more than one crore central government workers and pensioners, was approved by the Union Cabinet on Thursday. The reports state that on January 1, 2026, the 8th Pay Commission will go into effect.

"The 8th Central Pay Commission for all employees of Central Government has been approved by the Prime Minister," Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated Thursday at a Cabinet meeting.
