Saif Ali Khan Attacked

The husband of Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, was reportedly stabbed six times during a break-in at his Bandra home in Mumbai, in a startling turn of events. According to reports, an anonymous intruder broke into the actor's house late Wednesday night.


The suspect entered Saif's home on Thursday around 2:30 am and got into a furious altercation with a domestic worker, the Mumbai Police said in a statement. The actor suffered six injuries after the intruder attacked him when Saif stepped in to defuse the situation. Two of these were severe, one of them dangerously near his spine.

Following the attack, the attacker left the area, prompting the authorities to investigate comprehensively. According to a top IPS official, the Mumbai crime branch is carrying out a parallel investigation to find the culprit. The police are currently trying to identify and capture the culprit after filing a formal complaint.

After being taken to Lilavati Hospital, Saif had surgery to treat his wounds, according to the hospital's COO, Dr. Niraj Uttamani. The actor's condition is being closely watched, he added, adding that "the extent of the harm will only be clear after the operation."

Clearly shaken, Kareena Kapoor Khan has stayed at Saif's side at the hospital. Taimur and Jeh, the couple's two young sons, are said to be unharmed and did not witness the incident. The Satguru Sharan building in Bandra West, which is renowned for its high-profile occupants and purported security, is where Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan stay.

Saif's surgeon, Dr. Nitin Dange, also gave the media an update on his condition and declared him safe. At two in the morning, Saif Ali Khan was brought to the hospital on suspicion of having been assaulted by an unidentified individual. A knife embedded in his spine caused a serious lesion to his thoracic spinal cord. To fix the leaking spinal fluid and remove the knife, surgery was done. The plastic surgery team also fixed a major wound on his neck and two more on his left hand. He is now totally steady.
